Our fall concert will be held Monday, November 28th, 2022 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Savage Chapel, Union University in Jackson. Admission is free and the public is invited. This will be a joint concert with our two groups, the Symphonic Winds (conducted by Tony Burris) and the Swing Orchestra (conducted by David Kyles).
We hope to see everyone at our next concert.
The Symphonic Winds will be playing a program featuring “A Festive Overture” by Dmitri Shostakovich as well as works by Brian Balmages including ‘Sun Cycles” and “The Crystal Fountain.” We will perform the lively “Caccia and Chorale” by Clifton Williams, and the El Capitan March by Sousa. Finally, to get everyone is a festive spirit we will present “Christmas Recollections” by Edmondson.
Following the Symphonic Winds will be our Swing Orchestra, with selections including 12th Street Rag, Autumn Leaves, “Bone” Talk, Cajun Cookin’. Caravan and more.
Our musicians are all from our local West Tennessee area.

The Symphonic Winds concert band is the symphonic arm of the JACB. We rehearse on the first and third Mondays during the Spring and Fall semesters from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the band room in Jennings Hall at Union University.
If you are new to the area, of high-school age or older, and can read and play grade 3 (or higher) music, please come check us out and bring your instrument! We have room for all instrumentation, especially percussion. To encourage our young musicians, dues for new high school and college students are WAIVED for the first year or first two semesters.
The Jackson Swing Orchestra plays “big band” music and rehearses from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on the second and fourth Mondays during the Spring and Fall semesters in the band room in Jennings Hall at Union University. Swing Orchestra membership is limited to availability of openings and requires an invitation from the director.
