January 2020 Original announcement:

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have been watching the COVID-19 updates on both the national and local levels very closely. We sincerely hope that everyone is healthy and following the social distancing guidelines, washing your hands, and taking every precaution to keep yourselves and your families safe.

As most of you know, it is not expected that the situation will be resolved anytime soon, with estimates ranging from several weeks to several months. This affects an organization like ours a little differently than most, simply because even if Union University did open on April 13th as they said, that would not give Tony nor David enough time to get us all ready for our concert on April 27th.

Therefore, it is with sadness that we announce officially that our Spring 2020 season is concluded. We sincerely thank everyone for your patience and we will continue to work on your behalf to get things ready for our Fall 2020 semester, assuming all is resolved by then.

Regarding the music for both the Swing Orchestra and the Symphonic Winds, if you are planning to return for the Fall semester, please keep your folders and music with you and keep it safe. It is likely that possibly with a few exceptions, we will pick up where we left off, which should give us a head start on preparation for our Fall concert. If you are not sure, or you know for certain, that you are not able to be with us in the fall, it is vitally important that you return your folder to us. Please respond to Tony or David and let them know right away if we need to make arrangements to get your music. We encourage everyone to continue to practice and hopefully all of us will have our parts down cold by the start of the Fall semester.

I’m sure that Tony and David will probably follow up this message with some of their own comments and words of encouragement. We will keep everyone informed to the best of our ability regarding what is happening and our plans. We sincerely hope and pray that all of you remain safe and healthy over the summer. We look forward to seeing you all in the Fall.

On behalf of the JACB Executive Board,

John McVey, President, JACB, Inc.

We have room for all instrumentation, especially percussion. To encourage our young musicians, dues for new high school and college students are WAIVED for the first year or first two semesters.
